The National Bank Open, formerly Rogers Cup

Dear Rogers Cup fans

August 7, 2020

This is the most difficult letter that I have had to write.  As you know, we have postponed the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in response to the current coronavirus pandemic. This coming week would have been the start of our event. And while we miss seeing fans in the stands and miss hearing the roar of the crowd during highlight worthy matches, we made this decision to safeguard the health and wellbeing of fans, players, staff, volunteers and everyone associated with the sport of tennis as well as the general public.

For now, we can reminisce about our favourite memories from past tournaments and look forward to future tournaments in our great city. As we look ahead, we will keep you informed regarding all the important updates and initiatives regarding the 2021 event, as the men are set to return to Toronto. I encourage you to visit RogersCup.com for the latest news and interactive content to stay connected with the game and with our tournament.  I also encourage you all to follow and support our world class Canadian male and female players as they get set to compete in tournaments during the remainder of the shortened 2020 season.

It is your letters, cards, notes of encouragement and applause after each point that make the Rogers Cup an incredibly special tournament that players want to compete in each year.

We are grateful for your understanding throughout this difficult period and for being the best fans in sports.

Your support continues to be felt and we look forward to being back in 2021!

Sincerely,

Karl Hale

Tournament Director
