There were some colossal surprises and high-calibre tennis yesterday at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, with seven of the top eight seeds in action at IGA Stadium.
Busy afternoon starring Félix Auger-Aliassime
Thursday promises to be an especially busy day for tennis fans at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.
On Centre Court, the action begins at noon when Casper Ruud (4) of Norway takes on the metronomic Roberto Bautista Agut (14) of Spain.
Immediately afterwards, Nick Kyrgios, who ousted Daniil Medvedev, will work to outmaneuver fellow Aussie Alex de Minaur, who’s a little less creative than Nick but so consistent and reasonable.
Then, Félix Auger-Aliassime (6) will try to avenge his loss to Cameron Norrie (9) in Washington. Their match won’t begin before 4 p.m.
Fans who are feeling nostalgic can start the evening session with the exceptionally talented and exceedingly magnetic Gaël Monfils.
Jannik Sinner (7) of Italy will end the evening against Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain.
And on Rogers Court, Hubert Hurkacz, Albert Ramos-Vinolas, Taylor Fritz, Daniel Evans, Marin Cilic and Tommy Paul will all showcase their talents on the court.
Ready for even more tennis? Cheer on the new generation of Canadian tennis stars in the Tennis Montréal Excellence program as they train on Court No. 2. Arrive a little early for the evening session and enjoy a musical performance by Tamara Weber-Fillion at the Acoustic Hour starting at 5:30 p.m. on the Loto-Québec stage.
And don’t forget to stop by the Nespresso Terrace for a caffeine boost to prepare you for all the exciting tennis going on at the National Bank Open!
