The singles final is set for the 2022 edition of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers following an exciting day of action at IGA Stadium. A first-time winner of the tournament will be crowned on Sunday in Montreal.
In the first semifinal of the day, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz trailed by a set and a break against Casper Ruud, the highest seed remaining in the draw, before mounting an impressive comeback to win his fourth straight match in three sets.
The 25-year-old will attempt to capture his second career Masters 1000 title when he goes up against Pablo Carreno Busta in the championship match. The Spaniard topped Daniel Evans in a three-set thriller under the lights on centre court and arguably the match of the tournament so far featuring many extended rallies and superb shot-making.
With the victory, Carreno Busta will have the chance to play for his first Masters 1000 title in his first final appearance at this level. An important achievement unlocked at 31 years old for the talented and likable Spaniard.

A pit stop was needed during Casper Ruud’s walk onto Centre Court for his semifinal match after the Little Aces player accompanying him lost a shoe. Well-played by the little one for barely missing a step!
